Bristol Light Festival 2025 dazzled the city once again, drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors from Friday 31st January to Sunday 9th February. Over ten days, ten spectacular installations, including both a world and a European premiere, transformed nine city-centre locations. From a giant heart-shaped disco ball to a flock of 1,000 flamingos, the festival also paid tribute to Bristol’s legendary drum and bass scene.
But beyond the glowing displays, the festival delivers a major boost to Bristol’s economy. Since launching in 2020, it has drawn significant footfall to local businesses during a traditionally quieter season. Early data for 2025 shows strong visitor numbers every evening, with many installations seeing year-on-year growth in footfall. A full impact report is coming soon – but first, the festival wants to hear from you!
Have your say: The 2025 visitor survey is now live
Bristol Light Festival is inviting visitors to share their experiences in the annual Visitor Survey, launched today, Monday 10th February. Whether you came for the immersive art, the buzzing atmosphere, or a night out with friends, your feedback will help to shape the future of the festival.
Katherine Jewkes, Creative Director of Bristol Light Festival, said:
“It’s always such a delight to brighten up Bristol in these cold winter months and to celebrate the culture and creativity that Bristol is known for around the world. I’m thrilled that this year we had two world premieres of new work, as well as three European premieres, as well as some well-loved returning favourites. We were able to offer the opportunity to local artists to showcase their work in their hometown for the first time. As always, we are thrilled by the reception from our audiences, who came out rain and shine to explore the city and enjoy the art - and look forward to hearing more about their experiences in our visitor survey.”
Vicky Lee, Director of Bristol City Centre BID, added:
"Bristol Light Festival showcases the city at its best - not only through stunning installations but also by driving people into the heart of Bristol. The impact extends beyond the art itself, bringing communities together and giving local businesses a well-deserved boost."
